Copper Head Trail - CANCELLED

Event date:
Fri, 07/29/2022 - 8:00am to Sun, 07/31/2022 - 5:00pm

Good Morning HOGS,

At this time, we have decided to cancel the Copperhead Trail ride for this year. Weather conditions throughout entire region within our routes are lousy and unsafe. As of yesterday, 5+ inches of rain has fallen with heavier rains forecasted all the way through next week. Flooded roads and debris are unsafe while on two wheels and this is an unfortunate decision that we had to make! We are truly sorry folks.

REMINDER:  Please call and cancel your hotel reservations TODAY. We did call the hotels to alert them that we were going to make the decision on canceling the ride today so they’ve been kept in the loop on our potential outcome. Below are the hotel phone numbers.

Red Roof inn: (606) 526-1400.

Comfort Suites: (606) 886-2555.

With a full ride schedule this year, the Copperhead Trail ride will be moved to next year’s calendar.

Due to the nature of this ride, weather pending is in place. Come join us for a ride to the Copperhead Trail and Double Headed Dragon, July 29th thru the 31st. This will be a 3-day ride on some beautiful and challenging back country roads thru Kentucky and the tip of Tennessee.

Day 1) Will consist of a short highway ride down into a familiar stop in Wilder, Kentucky where we will shake off the highway. From there, we will head into the start of a challenging, technical, curvy, and twisty day totaling 227 miles before landing at the Red Roof Inn in Corbin, KY. We walk next door to Brooklyn Brothers Pizzeria for dinner if you choose.

The room rate will be good till July 1, 2022. There will also be a complimentary breakfast that will be served Saturday morning, before we depart.

Day 2) The route is 252 miles that is loaded with crazy challenging technical curves and a handful of switchbacks. We begin the morning by heading west towards the Cumberland Falls region. After a brief stop at the falls (if we decide), we will then continue south and pick up the Copperhead Trail that heads west to east. From there, we will continue southeast and briefly dip into Tennessee before heading back into Kentucky to ride the Double Headed Dragon . We’ll continue on to some extremely curvy roads as we head towards Prestonsburg, KY where we will be land for the night. We have reservations for 50 people at the Brickhouse Restaurant in Prestonsburg at 7:00 pm. This a day full of curves from hotel to hotel. Hope your endurance is up to par.

at will be served Sunday morning, before we depart.

Day 3: With 225 miles on day 3, the curves and twists just keep on coming at you. We’ll take off in a northeast direction and pick up some of the Daniel Boone forest before opening up to some great curvy Kentucky farmland backroads. We’ll stop for lunch at Frishes in Maysville.

Reminder: There will be a lot of riding on unmarked back roads, non-stop challenging curves and switch backs.
