Ride: Into the Piney Woods Ride

Description: This is a three-day, overnight ride going west into Indiana and spending two nights in Evansville.  We will stay at the same hotel both nights at the Quality Inn & Suites in downtown Evansville. 

Day 1: Will consist of leaving from behind Wendy’s at 7:30am and make our way northwest of Cincinnati and ride approximately 280 miles to our hotel.

Day 2: We will rise and shine early and head west to the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois for some nice riding.  We will ride approximately 250 miles on this day.

Day 3: The return ride home is also approximately 280 miles and return to Powder Keg in the late afternoon.

There are 20 rooms blocked at the Quality Inn & Suites in downtown Evansville.  Ask for “Powder Keg Harley”.  All rooms are King beds for $75 plus tax.  However, you can try and negotiate for a double bed room when you call.  Those are $5-$6 more plus tax if available .  The phone number is 812-909-5953  and address is 703 N First Avenue , Evansville, Indiana 47710.

Road Conditions:  We will mostly be on state routes and country back roads.  There will be a small portion on the interstate in Indiana.  Shawnee National Forest will consist of easy twist and turns and some beautiful straight aways.

Costs:  Room rates above plus meal costs and gas.  Normal riding weekend stuff.

Miles:  Approximately 810 miles round trip.

Lunch Stop:  Will be planned.

Break Stops:  Will be planned.

This is a CLOSED chapter event – members are allowed to bring one guest.

Please arrive with tanks full, people empty.
