You’ve heard it talked about at chapter meetings. You’ve seen it in action on chapter rides. Now chapter members have the opportunity to get the training some of the Road Captains and many members have. On February 19/20, Frank Fuller will host both the basic and advanced Accident Scene Management (ASM) classes. The basic class will be offered on Saturday and the advanced-on Sunday. For those who have taken ASM in the past a refresher is planned in March 2022. Attached is a flyer with more information. Below is a brief description of the courses.
Basic: “A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist”- Learn what to do in the first 5-30 minutes after a crash until professional help arrives. Helmet removal, jaw thrust, and moving the injured are all addressed & practiced. 6.0 CEs issued
Advanced: “Advanced Bystander Assistance"-Learn how to be a side-by-side assistant to the EMS by enhancing what is learned in "A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist". Students are taught how to be a Leader at a scene. Advanced Airway, Common Roadway Medical Concerns, Long Boarding, Femoral Traction, Femoral pressure points and PACT/ABCSS of Trauma are all addressed & practiced. 6.0 CEs
Cost: The cost ASM National recommends is $99 for each class, $175 for both. I’m discounting classes for HOG members to $55/class or $100 for both. When registering, use discount code HOG ($44) for individual classes, and use discount code HOG-Both ($75) if taking both.
Note: Cost includes of books, patch, and individual covid safe bandage/rescue breathing exercise kits.
